From April to October 2014, Joanne lived at Sunseed Desert Technology – a community-led non-formal educational centre for the transition towards sustainability in Andalusia, Spain.
In the beautiful off-grid village of Los Molinos del Río Aguas, a group of international residents learn together to develop, demonstrate, research and communicate accessible ways to reduce our environmental impact.
During this time, Joanne undertook practice-led research with two main strands, the first being making models and sculptures from natural and renewable materials including clay, pita wood and caña. And the second being creating engaging educational games about sustainable living to take to festivals and events.
